With currently no other viable internet connections available in our rural location, we were hoping that the mobile broadband service offered by the 3Unlimited Broadband plan would enable us to stream reality tv (mainly from channel 4) in the evenings.
It doesn’t. And from what we have read in other community posts we are not alone.
So we decided to post our findings as detailed as possible to eliminate any wrong doing on our side.
It will take a bit of your time to read, but clearly shows that the 3Unlimited Broadband plan is unable to provide some of it’s customers who are depending on mobile broadband with a reliable internet connection in the evenings.
Our address in Tullig Beg, County Cork (Eircode P12 R622) has a fair Three 3G and 4G outdoor coverage according to the Comreg outdoor mobile coverage map (https://coveragemap.comreg.ie/map).
Our house is approx. 109 meters* above sea level and the only obstruction that could possibly result in signal loss is the next hill at a height of approx. 121 meters* directly to the south of us.
According to the Comreg site viewer (https://siteviewer.comreg.ie), the closest Three mast (GSM, UMTS and LTE) is located in Coachford, County Cork, approx. 3.5 km* South-West from our location. This mast is shared with Meteor (GSM and UMTS) and Vodafone (GSM, UMTS and LTE).
The next closest Three mast (UMTS and LTE) is located in Classis, County Cork, approx. 5.4 km* South-East from our location. This mast is shared with Meteor and Vodafone (both GSM and UMTS).

Huawei B525s-23a wireless mobile broadband router (supplied by Three) with download speeds up to 300 Mbps and upload speeds of 50 Mbps, both antenna’s firmly attached and auto update enabled (Hardware version: WL1B520FM, Software version: 11.187.61.01.25).
Acer Aspire 1 (A114-31 Series) laptop computer with Intel Pentium n4200 1.10GHz x64-based processor, 4 GB RAM, Windows 10 Home 64-bit (version 1809), Qualcomm Atheros QCA9377 Wireless Network Adapter (802.11b/g/n with up to 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz band).
The router was placed at a height of approx. 1.5 meters in a south facing window with only the 5GHz band turned on and both preferred network mode and network search mode set to ‘auto’.
The laptop was placed in the same room, plugged into the power supply and connected to the router via 5GHz WiFi (unobstructed). All drivers and software were updated to the latest versions, and automatic software updates were turned off. The only program running in the background was BullGuard Internet Security (version 20.0.271.8).
During testing there were no other devices physically or wireless connected to either laptop or router.
Before each test both laptop and router were restarted, and the browser’s cache and cookies cleared.

As the results show, our internet connection is awesome during the day, pretty good during the early evening, yet very poor during the late evening...

@Classius Sounds like you're having issues as when everyone else starts to use their bb more and more, your speed drops so what have you tried to improve? Change of settings? Change APN, moving the router?
