Xperia L2 announced with 5.5-inch HD display and wide-angle

Sony Mobile has unveiled its latest entry-level smartphone, the Xperia L2 (H4311, H4331). The model follows up on last year’s Xperia L1, and continues to use a 5.5-inch HD (720p) display and the same MediaTek MT6737T chipset, but there are a number of improvements.

The Sony Xperia L2 uses 32GB internal storage (24GB usable) and 3GB RAM – versus 16GB storage and 2GB in the Xperia L1. The battery has also seen a significant improvement, moving from 2620mAh in the Xperia L1 to 3300mAh in the Xperia L2.

Rear camera duties are still taken care of with a 13MP 1/3.06-inch sensor with F2.0 lens, but the selfie camera has been upgraded from 5MP to a 8MP 1/4-inch sensor with 120-degree wide-angle F2.4 lens.

Sony utilises its ‘loop surface’ design, with the Xperia L2 also featuring a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor (now usable in the United States). Other features include Corning Gorilla Glass for durability, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, microSD memory card slot and USB Type-C.

The Sony Xperia L2 has dimensions of 150 x 78 x 9.8 mm and weighs 178 grams. It will launch in three colours (Black, Gold, Pink) with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, when it starts shipping later in January 2018.
