How to get a Public IP for Broadband

One of our most popular questions on the Forum is about IP addresses. I’ve put together this article to help explain what it is we can do with mobile broadband accounts. Please note this is not something we can change in the background for anyone using a phone SIM.

 

A public IP address is required to operate video surveillance (CCTV for home, businesses and calving sheds) and other security systems such as gates.

 

We can change the APN settings on any of our broadband plans (Bill Pay and Prepay plans) to allow a Public IP address.  Because our broadband signal is over the air, your Public IP will be dynamic. This means it can change so it it’s not static. If the connection ends for any reason then an new IP will be used but that remains public.

 

What to do next?

You'll need to get the mods to change settings on your account. Follow the steps below before you PM

 

  1. Check your broadband number
  2. You must be the account holder
  3. Join the community and get involved.
  4. Pop on to one of our Public Posts and say Hello (only if it's your first time)
  5. PM one of the MODS with your number, name, address, and date of birth👉 #MeetTheMods
