Can't connect to any network in USA

I arrived in USA on Tuesday 8/8/2017. I travelled to US via Heathrow to SFO, had no problems in Heathrow but no connection in SFO airport on arrival very inconvenient. I am staying north of San Francisco in San Rafael and still no connection, I have tried everything that others have in other posts to no avail. My wife has an old O2 prepay plan and her phone connected immediately on arrival. This must be a Three problem as there are a lot of people experiencing similar problem while trying to roam in USA.

Try to disable 4g and restart your phone.
What phone is the o2 network picking up?
Manually connect to it and restart phone

No change, I've been to a T-Mobile shop and bought a USA sim for $30 and it works fine. Very disappointed with 3 have to change to new provider when I get home.
